Wealthy Investors Seek Financial Asset Management Life Rafts
New York (Vocus) June 11, 2009 -- As investors bail on the large brokerage firms, a new book helps them navigate the shark-filled waters of financial asset management.
"Wall Street Money Management Secrets: 12 Financial Asset Management Strategies That Professionals Use to Succeed in Declining Stock Markets" has just been published by The Wall Street Institute For Stock Market Professionals. The print version is available at amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/Wall-Street-Money-Management-Secrets/dp/098409010X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1244665708&sr=8-1), while the electronic version is available for free download at http://www.thewallstreetebook.com.
The book describes 12 of the most common investment mistakes and how to avoid them, including: being deceived by market indices, not diversifying, falling victim to the ostrich effect during market declines, and listening to stock market gurus. The book, in simple English, avoids financial jargon and describes strategies that can be instantly implemented by most investors.
"Frustration reached panic level as large firm investors watched their financial asset management system collapse before their eyes," said Michael Weiss, the book's author and founder of Frontier Financial Advisors (http://wallstreetfrontier.com/). "It's upsetting when somebody talks about protecting your capital and then fails to do so."
This truth is evident in the increasing migration away from the large firms. A Charles Schwab study showed 85 percent of independent financial asset management firms reported new clients fleeing full-service brokerage firms.
This transition is occurring with stock brokers and advisors as well. In March 2009, 2,624 representatives changed firms, up 34 percent from February, according to Discovery Database.
"Every bear market is followed by a bull market, and this one will be no different," Weiss said. "The top concern for every investor must be, 'If I have changed ships, have I boarded the correct vessel to navigate tomorrow's storms? Will my financial asset management program put me in a position to make more money and take less risk?'"
